Dunlop Aerogel 4D Technology

Through extensive research into geometric frame shapes, the Research and Development Department at Dunlop has created a new frame shape that delivers noticeable performance enhancement.
Analysis of frame deformation on shuttle impact demonstrates momentary loss of structural integrity resulting in reduced power and control. As a result, Dunlop has concentrated Aerogel into 4 key locations on the frame. Frame shape is immediately improved under stress allowing power generation to be concentrated into the shuttle on impact. Overall hoop stiffness is also increased reducing twist on impact thereby increasing accuracy of shot.

Featuring a uniform carbon molecular structure and sourced directly from Japan, this material is of the highest modular specification maximising reactive energy within the racket structure at the moment of shuttle impact.
Torsional movement is also minimised through bond reinforcement improving accuracy of shot.

4D stands for 4 directional braiding and it has been introduced to enhance racket stability and control. 4D Braided material is constructed using four braided fibres of superlight composite fibres wrapped in an alloy sheath
The fibres are aligned at 0, 90, 22 and -22¼ orientations which enables stresses to be supported in multiple directions whereas standard carbon sheets are only orientated in a single direction. This means that one layer of 4D Braided material has the equivalent properties to four layers of standard carbon layed up at different orientations, making it 4 times more effective without increasing the overall weight of the rackets.
4D Braided material has been incorporated to the racket lay-up at the following key locations:

• At 5 and 7 O'clock the multi-directional properties of the 4D braided cloth help stabilise the torsional twist, making the racket more stable and enhancing control.
• At 3 and 9 oÕclock of 4D braided cloth provides torsional stability and as a result of only one layer being used instead of several this material also provides superb racket response at ball contact.

4D Braided technology perfectly complements the raw power of Aerogel technology to create the perfect blend of control and power.

Positioned at 3 and 9 o’clock, power grommets are constructed from a soft polymer to provide increased cross string movement allowing greater power to be generated.

Engineered with 4 convex channels to stiffen the top section of the handle, this bespoke top cap design regulates shaft flexion allowing greater control and pin point shot accuracy.

Our revolutionary Hotmelt manufacturing process produces a unique molten graphite skin which is layered over the entire racket frame, making it immensely strong, durable and responsive, producing an incredible surge of 30% more heat refined power than standard graphite rackets.

This creates a purer, more uniform graphite coating, enhancing natural power play, producing greater shot accuracy and giving a more consistent touch and feel throughout the frame.
