Through extensive research into geometric frame shapes, the Research and Development Department at Dunlop has created a new frame shape that delivers noticeable performance enhancement.
Analysis of frame deformation on shuttle impact demonstrates momentary loss of structural integrity resulting in reduced power and control. As a result, Dunlop has concentrated Aerogel into 4 key locations on the frame. Frame shape is immediately improved under stress allowing power generation to be concentrated into the shuttle on impact. Overall hoop stiffness is also increased reducing twist on impact thereby increasing accuracy of shot.

4D stands for 4 directional braiding and it has been introduced to enhance racket stability and control. 4D Braided material is constructed using four braided fibres of superlight composite fibres wrapped in an alloy sheath
The fibres are aligned at 0, 90, 22 and -22¼ orientations which enables stresses to be supported in multiple directions whereas standard carbon sheets are only orientated in a single direction. This means that one layer of 4D Braided material has the equivalent properties to four layers of standard carbon layed up at different orientations, making it 4 times more effective without increasing the overall weight of the rackets.
4D Braided material has been incorporated to the racket lay-up at the following key locations:
- At 5 and 7 O'clock the multi-directional properties of the 4D braided cloth help stabilise the torsional twist, making the racket more stable and enhancing control.
- At 3 and 9 oĆclock of 4D braided cloth provides torsional stability and as a result of only one layer being used instead of several this material also provides superb racket response at ball contact.
Positioned at 3 and 9 o’clock, power grommets are constructed from a soft polymer to provide increased cross string movement allowing greater power to be generated.
Engineered with 4 convex channels to stiffen the top section of the handle, this bespoke top cap design regulates shaft flexion allowing greater control and pin point shot accuracy.
